Youth Organizations and Schools

We need youth organizations and schools to identify participants. We are looking for beginners.  We need young people who want to learn how to play chess and understand the benefits they can get from chess training.  The age again is from 10 to 16.

  • referring organization or school

  • first name and last name

  • grade, age, and gender

The referring organization will be responsible for obtaining a parent permission slip, which includes a release to use the participant’s still and video images.

The first 32 students to apply will be selected to attend the onsite classes on Saturday, February 18th, and Saturday, February 25th, at the JLM Life Center at 2622 W. Jackson in Chicago.

The onsite classes will start at 10:00 a.m. There will be two sessions, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Lunch will be provided from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. We will hold a timed elimination chess tournament the last Saturday, February 25th. All participants will receive certificates of completion. The first, second, third, and fourth-place finishers will receive cash card awards and trophies presented by program sponsors.
